Workshops

As clinicians we are all aware of our legal and ethical mandate to report abuse and neglect. We discuss the limits of confidentiality with our clients during out intakes and include language to that effect in our consent forms. However, how many of us truly understand the mandate and our legal responsibilties? This workshop will provide you with the information that you need to feel confident in addressing this important part of our job.

Objectives:

  • Understand how the laws around mandated reporting affect you.

  • Recognize factors associated with abuse and neglect prevention.

  • Define types of abuse and related indicators.

  • Describe the process for handling a disclosure of abuse.

  • Follow the basic procedure for reporting suspected child abuse.

  • Discern between the community's role to support family wellbeing and DFCS’ role to investigate suspected abuse and neglect.

Options are available to
participate both Virtually
and/or In-person.

We are offering this event
on Fridays and Saturdays
to accommodate for most
busy schedules.
